LYRICS

All of these songs have opportunities for participation. Whether you'll make funny noises with your armpits or give "GUTS!" a good loud yell, joining in a song makes the song more powerful. Adding your own verses makes a song last longer. Changing the way a song was initially meant to be sung can make the song your own.
                                               Enjoy every second.

I Make Funny Noises
by Linda Richards 3/24/16

I make funny noises,
I make them with my feet
Sometimes they make me laugh so hard, I fall down in the street
But, I still like to make them,
I’d make them all day long _
Here’s the noise that my feet make right here in this song:

I make funny noises,
I make them with my hands
Sometimes they make me laugh so hard, you can hear me ‘cross the land!
But, I still like to make them,
I’d make them all day long _
Here’s the noise that my hands make right here in this song:

I make funny noises,
I make them with my lips
Sometimes they make me laugh so hard, you can hear me out on ships!
But, I still like to make them,
I’d make them all day long _
Here’s the noise that my lips make right here in this song:

I make funny noises,
I make them with my armpit
Sometimes they make me laugh so hard, it makes me have to sit!
But, I still like to make them,
I’d make them all day long _
Here’s the noise my armpit makes right here in this song:

I make funny noises,
I make them with my mouth
Sometimes they make me laugh so hard, you can hear me way down south!
But, I still like to make them,
I’d make them all day long _
Here’s the noise that my mouth makes right here in this song:

I make funny noises,
I make them with my knees
Sometimes they make me laugh so hard, I feel like I have fleas!
But, I still like to make them,
I’d make them all day long _
Here’s the noise that my knees make right here in this song:

I make funny noises,
I make them with my nose
Sometimes they make me laugh so hard, I shake down to my toes!
But, I still like to make them,
I’d make them all day long _
Here’s the noise that my nose makes right here in this song:

I make funny noises,
I make them with all of me
Sometimes they make me laugh so hard that I can barely see!
But I still like to make them,
I’d make them all day long -
Here’s the noise all of me makes right here in this song!

Peaceful Solutions
by Linda Richards 2/18/16
I was minding my own business in the playground yesterday
playin’ soccer with my friends till the ball was stole away -
I tried to get it back, but I was middle, I was monkey -
The 2 kids with the ball found the whole thing very funny.

I stopped… I saw red
I started to frown… my hands clenched.
But that’s when… you gotta look…
For peaceful solutions!

Ms Richards gave us Skittles for a math activity,
It was fun to sort the candy into groups of 2 and 3.
But my partner took my pieces – said she wouldn’t give ‘em back
Ms Richards asked me where the candy was that now I lacked.

I stopped… I saw red
I started to frown… my hands clenched.
But that’s when… you gotta look…
For peaceful solutions!

(Bridge)
What in the world are these solutions and how do you make them work?
How do you make a difference in the place where bullies lurk?
Bullying’s just a thing for kids to do when they’re confused,
because sometimes solving problems is a harder path to choose.

You gotta take a breath and sometimes one step back
when someone riles you up, when it feels like an attack.
You gotta look that person in the eye and stand up nice and straight
and ask them to explain themselves – it takes away the hate –

You gotta stop…breathe in and out.
Wear a smile… put a hand out.
Ask them to…. help you….
find a peaceful solution!

You gotta stop…breathe in and out.
Wear a smile… put a hand out.
Ask them to…. help you….
find a peaceful solution!

I Saw a Snake
by Linda Richards 10/28/15

I saw a snake – his head was small.
And that snake had - no legs at all!
He had nice colors that were hard to miss...
I saw a snake – the snake went: HISS!

I saw a spider – she was in my sink
She moved so fast, it made me think
I usually see them in darkest dregs,
I saw a spider – she had eight: LEGS!

I saw a bat – he flew so high
to eat a meal in the nighttime sky
And when he sleeps, he's wrapped in hugs
I saw a bat – the bat eats: BUGS!

I saw some worms – they wriggled well.
No ears, no eyes, and they didn't smell!
It makes me sad that they'll never grin
I saw some worms – breathing through their: SKIN!

I saw a rat – out on some logs
I would have rather seen some frogs!
But it was silly to be upset
I hear a rat makes a great: PET!

I saw a shark – in the ocean blue
Went ‘round my boat a time or two –
there was no reason to go and hide -
The shark was only – gliding: BY!

I saw a werewolf – in the forest dark -
It made me miss – my friend the shark!
But I held my ground – tried to be brave…
It was just my dad - & he needed a: SHAVE!
But I held my ground – tried to be brave…
It was just my dad - & he needed a: SHAVE!

# who’s my BFF?
# and who BMS?
# always LOL in iddy biddy phrases

# I don’t like it when
# my friends fight and then
# commiserate in iddy biddy phrases

# adolescent pleasure
# meets parental pressure
# what to wear and share in iddy biddy phrases

# I’ve hit rock bottom
# I’ve been forgotten
# the world is rotten – these iddy biddy phrases

(bridge)
# it don’t have to be
# I’m not what you see
# when you cave, you’re not free, you’re
# someone’s phrases
# won’t be in cook session
# igniting depression
# I’m not like that and never have to be

# OMG
# my thoughts are free
# but don’t put me in iddy biddy phrases.

Your Skin’s Just a Bag for Your Guts
by Linda Richards 2/19/16

Your skin’s just a bag for your guts (guts),
To keep ‘em inside with your bones (bones),
I wonder if you see how many colors skin can be
Oh - your skin’s just a bag for your guts (guts)!

Your skin can be bumpy or smooth (smooth),
Like a crocodile, a table or a peach (peach)!
I wonder if you see how many textures skin can be
Oh – your skin’s just a bag for your guts (guts)!

We come in all sizes and shapes (shapes)!
Short and tall and wide and thin and curved (curved)!
I wonder if you see all the designs that we can be
Oh – your skin’s just a bag for your guts (guts)!

We all sound different when we talk (talk)!
We’re fast, slow, talk a lot, or not at all (all)
I wonder if you see all the sounds that we can be
Oh – your skin’s just a bag for your guts (guts)!

A person is what’s happening inside (inside)!
That’s where we love, we think and where we feel (feel)!
I wonder if we see how beautiful we all can be,
Oh – your skin’s just a bag for your guts (guts)!
Your skin’s just a bag for your guts (guts)!
And if that’s all you see, then you’re NUTS! (nuts!)
‘Cause your skin’s just a bag for your guts (guts)!

Sometimes
by Linda Richards 10/2/16

Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes) we’re asleep.
Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes) we’re not there.
Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes) we don’t think.
Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes) we don’t care.

And things go on, we know they’re wrong
But don’t know what to do.
And when we learn, sometimes we burn,
But only for a few
Minutes.

Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes) we do good things.
Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes) we react.
Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes) we don’t understand.
Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes) we take it back.

And who knows when we’ll be here again
Or if we ever will be?
Take it all in beneath your skin
Remember what you feel
Counts.

Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes) we forget.
Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes) we judge.
Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes) we get sloppy.
Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes) we need a nudge.

Girls and boys - go make some noise
And do what you can do.
Don’t let no one make you come undone
Because of what they’re used to
Seeing. Hearing. Believing.

Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes).
Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes).
Sometimes (sometimes, sometimes).
